Cookies policy

Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device. They let sites remember settings, measure traffic, and improve the experience. We also use similar technologies such as local storage and session storage, which this policy treats the same as cookies.

It is worth separating these up front, because they are unrelated systems:

• Our website, attravo.com, which you are reading now. This is our marketing site and it uses analytics.
• Our support chat and help center, served from support.attravo.com and help.attravo.com. The chat also appears on this site and inside our apps, but what it stores belongs to support.attravo.com, not to the page around it.
• Our Shopify apps, which run inside a merchant’s storefront. These set only the storage each app needs and carry no analytics cookies from our marketing site.

Nothing from our website analytics reaches a merchant’s store, and nothing from a merchant’s store reaches our website analytics.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people read and which links they click, so we know what to improve. It sets first-party cookies (typically _ga and a property-specific _ga_* cookie) that hold a randomly generated identifier and expire after up to two years.

• We collect page views, referrer, approximate location derived from IP, device and browser type, and clicks on outbound links such as “Book a call” and our App Store listings.
• We do not run advertising or remarketing pixels, we do not use Google Signals or cross-device advertising features, and we do not sell or share this data with advertising networks.
• This is website measurement only. It never includes merchant store data or shopper data from our apps.

The site itself stores nothing else in your browser. The support chat in the corner keeps its own storage, described next.

The chat stores up to three things in local storage on support.attravo.com. Your browser may keep a separate copy for each site the chat appears on.

• Chat session (attravo-support:*): a sign-in for your chat, made the first time you open it, so your conversations follow you from page to page and visit to visit. If you have chatted before, the chat uses it to show new replies on its button before you open it.
• Replies shown (attravo-support:previewed:*): which replies the chat has already previewed above its button, so each one shows once.
• Announcements seen (attravo-support:broadcasts:*): which of our short announcements above the chat’s button you have seen, opened, followed, or closed, so each one shows and is counted once. The list stays in your browser and names no one. An announcement set to show on every visit also notes that it showed during this visit (attravo-support:broadcasts-visit:*, in session storage, gone when you close the tab).

Until you open the chat, it stores nothing except a note of any announcement it showed you. It sets no cookies.

Reading the help center sets no cookies. We count readers on our server, with a hash of the address, browser, and day that cannot follow anyone from one day to the next, and we record nothing when your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control.

• hc_v cookie: set only when you answer “Was this helpful?” on an article. It holds a random ID, kept for a year, so you can change your vote. We store only a hash of it.
• hc-vote:* in local storage: your answer on each article, so it shows when you come back.
• hc-theme in local storage: light or dark, if you chose one.

Articles with a video load it from YouTube in its privacy-enhanced mode, Vimeo with Do Not Track on, Loom, or Wistia. Those players may store data under their own policies when a video loads or plays.

Our apps run inside merchants’ storefronts and admin. Storage set by our apps is scoped to that merchant’s store and is limited to what each app needs:

• Cart Drawer Upsell: a random ID in local storage (avc_sid) that counts cart opens and add-to-carts for the store’s own analytics, and session storage for that visit’s events, the terms checkbox, the countdown timer, a discount code waiting to apply, and the order of items in the cart.
• Bundles & Quantity Breaks: session storage for a random visit ID used in the store’s bundle analytics (bb_session), build-your-own selections so shoppers do not lose progress on refresh, and cached product details.
• Product Quiz Maker: a random quiz session ID (quizz_session) in local storage and in a cookie kept for 30 days, so answers and results carry on after a refresh and an order can be credited to the quiz.
• Post Purchase Upsell: offers run inside Shopify’s checkout, which Shopify controls. The app’s theme embed keeps one note in local storage (attravo:reported:*) recording that it told the app it is switched on that day. It holds nothing about the shopper.

None of our apps set cross-site advertising cookies, and none share data with advertising networks. Merchants are responsible for surfacing this in their own store cookie notice and for honoring shopper consent choices in their jurisdiction.

Third parties that may set cookies in these contexts:

• Google Analytics: traffic measurement on attravo.com only.
• Shopify: session management when our apps load inside the Shopify admin.
• Google Cloud: session affinity and load balancer cookies for application infrastructure.
• Calendly: when you click “Book a call,” Calendly may set cookies governed by its own policy.
• YouTube, Vimeo, Loom, and Wistia: when an article in our help center includes one of their videos.

Each provider that processes personal data for us appears in the sub-processors section of our privacy policy with its purpose and processing regions.

• Browser controls: most browsers let you block or clear cookies and site data in their privacy settings. Blocking them may break parts of our apps such as the cart drawer, bundle progress, and quiz state, and the support chat will not keep your conversation between pages.
• Google Analytics opt-out: install Google’s browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, which blocks Analytics on every site including ours.
• Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control: our help center records no reading statistics when your browser sends either signal.
• Ask us: email support@attravo.io and we will action your request directly.

We do not sell personal data and do not engage in cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front.

We update this policy when our use of cookies changes. The “Last updated” date above reflects the latest revision.
